After studying chemistry at the College of William and Mary, Dr. Paul Saladino spent 6 years traveling and exploring. Highlights included a thru-hike of the Pacific Crest Trail from Mexico to Canada, a summer in the New Zealand backcountry, and 2 years skiing and climbing in Wyoming’s Teton Mountains.
Dr. Saladino returned to academic studies after these adventures, becoming a physician assistant and practicing in cardiology. It was during this time that he saw first hand the shortcomings of mainstream Western medicine with its symptom focused, pharmaceutical based paradigm. He continued his training at the University of Arizona, obtaining his M.D. in 2015, and completing residency at the University of Washington in 2019. He is board-certified in psychiatry, and is a certified Functional Medicine practitioner (IFMCP) through the Institute for Functional Medicine. He now maintains a private practice in San Diego, California, and sees clients from all over the world virtually.
Dr. Saladino is a leading authority on the science and application of the carnivore diet. He has used this diet to reverse autoimmunity, chronic inflammation and mental health issues in hundreds of patients, many of whom had been told their conditions were untreatable. In addition to his personal podcast, Fundamental Health, he can be found featured on numerous podcasts including The Minimalists, The Model Health Show, Bulletproof Radio, The Dr. Gundry Podcast, The Ben Greenfield Podcast, Dr. Mercola, Health Theory, Mark Bell’s Power Project, and many others. He has also appeared on The Doctors TV show and authored the bestselling book, “The Carnivore Code: Unlocking the Secrets to Optimal Health by Returning to our Ancestral Diet.”
